Hi, I am Els Oostema, married with Evert and mother of Daniël, Giliam en Mirjam.
We love babies, but because of reasons of health we could not have more than three children.
To express my love for babies, I became a "help-mother" for newborn babies.
For this I studied almost all the books about babies and their care. With this knowledge about especially the babies anatomy, I started as the first dollartist to design and make babydolls.
In 1986 I opened my own studio, the "Sierpoppen Atelier". From here I sell, with a lot of success my, handmade babydolls and all necessary materials.
In making babydolls I express all my creativity and love for babies. This connects also with teaching this craft to my students. I'm very proud, that many babydoll -artists have started making babydolls with the technique I developed, after attending one of my classes, studying my books or viewing my instructional video |
